One of the most common questions I hear from newly engaged couples is, "If my venue has a coordinator, do I really need a wedding planner?" It's a great question—and one that often causes confusion.
While a venue coordinator and a wedding planner are both essential to a successful wedding day, they serve very different purposes. Understanding those differences can help you decide what level of support is right for you.
What Does a Venue Coordinator Do?
Your venue coordinator works on behalf of the venue. Their primary responsibility is making sure everything related to the venue operates smoothly.
This often includes:
Managing venue staff
Ensuring the ceremony and reception spaces are ready
Overseeing venue logistics and timing
Coordinating venue-provided services, such as catering or bar staff (if applicable)
Making sure venue policies and procedures are followed
They are an incredible resource and play an important role in making your day a success. However, their focus is naturally on the venue—not every moving piece of your wedding.
What Does a Wedding Planner or Coordinator Do?
As your wedding planner or day-of coordinator, I work for you.
My job is to make sure your entire wedding day unfolds exactly as you've envisioned. I'm the person behind the scenes connecting all the pieces so you don't have to worry about a thing.
